The eTIR specification are the result of the work of the Informal Ad hoc Expert Group on Conceptual and Technical Aspects of Computerization of the TIR Procedure (GE.1), a group of experts mandated by the Working Party on Customs Questions affecting Transport (WP.30) to elaborate the eTIR concepts as well as the functional and technical eTIR specifications. Its latest session was held in Geneva on 10-11 March 2020 and the documentation discussed on the course of that meeting is available on this page.

During the course of 2021, WP.30/GE.1 is currently working has prepared and agreed on version 4.3a 3.0 of the eTIR specifications.

In addition, several contracting parties to the TIR Convention have also nominated eTIR focal point which list can be found on this page.

The latest documents related to the eTIR specifications are:

  • Introduction to the eTIR conceptual, functional and technical documentation (v4.3.0): This document introduces the conceptual, functional and technical documentation for the TIR Procedure Computerization Project in accordance with the United Nations Centre for Trade Facilitation and Electronic Business (UN/CEFACT) Modelling Methodology.
  • eTIR concepts (v4.3.0): This document describes, inter alia, the actors and roles, the fundamentals principles, the use case analysis as well as the principles regulating the submission of advance TIR data.
  • eTIR functional specifications (v4.3.0): This document describes the activity analysis, which depicts the dynamics of the eTIR international system, and the data analysis, which presents the attributes and the methods of the objects used and exchanged by the eTIR international system in the form of class diagrams.
  • eTIR technical specifications (v4.3.0): This document translate the eTIR functional specifications into technical requirements, architectures, guidelines, procedures and detailed descriptions of all messages exchanged between the eTIR international system and the eTIR stakeholders.
