20.09.2020 LATEST UPDATES ON MATTERS REGARDING CORONA VIRUS (COVID-19) Extract : The International Airport and Land borders will now be opened for tourists, coming in and going out, provided they tested negative 72 hours before arrival in Uganda and provided the tour operators ensure that the tourists do not mix with the Ugandans. How will this be done? The tourists will be driven straight from the Airport to their destinations or to designated transit hotels that are set aside for that purpose. Business delegations should also be handled in the same way by the Local Partners. The returning Ugandans, who have negative PCR results, will be allowed to go home. The Ministry of Health will only get their addresses for follow up. Restrictions on movements on border districts are hereby lifted. Curfew, from 2100 hours (9 p.m.) to 6 a.m., will be maintained; but for the boda bodas, their movements must always end at 1800 hours (6 p.m). 02.07.2020 Flights to Uganda are suspended. This does not apply to operations related to humanitarian flights, Medical evacuation flights; Repatriation flights. The Mombasa Port is operational but with reduced staff capacity. Land borders are open but there are Customs delay at the eastern border (3 to 6 days). Rwanda: All commercial borders are still open to cargo movements but operating at minimal capacity. South Sudan: Closure of all borders with exemption granted for cargo and fuel tanks. Tanzania: Cargo movement is allowed. Measures implemented by Uganda Revenue Authority (URA)to facilitate the cross-border movement of relief and essential supplies. Importation of medicines and medical equipment related to the COVID-19 pandemic response The government has declared a list of essential items for the fight against COVID-19 tha tare tax-exempted. There are no specific expedited processes for the clearance of medical equipment or medicines. 30.04.2020 MEASURES TAKEN BY UGANDA TO COMBAT COVID-19 After most of the neighboring countries had confirmed cases of COVID-19, the government of As at 30th April, 2020, the following measures are obtaining: 1. Closure of all educational institutions. 2. Suspension of religious gatherings such as prayers in Churches and Mosques. 3. Suspension of all social, cultural and political public gatherings and conferences. 4. Suspension of all local passenger public transport. 5. Suspension of all passenger flights into and out of the country. 6. Suspension of entry into Uganda by anyone other than truck drivers, by land or water. 7. Suspension of non-food sellers from markets. 8. Imposition of a countrywide lockdown save for a few workers in selected sectors deemed 9. Imposition of a countrywide 7pm to 6.30am curfew. The Customs Administration has in line with the national COVID-19 guidelines conducted the following: 10. Set up a crisis team to respond to COVID-19 emergencies. 11.
