06.04.2020 Government of Tajikistan has issued a temporary regulation concerning international freight transport in the Republic of Tajikistan in view of COVID-19 prevention (unofficial translation from ABBAT here). This temporary regulation specifies the entry, exit and transit of international freight vehicles and the movement of drivers engaged in international road transport to/from the Republic of Tajikistan. The regulation was approved by the Ministry of Transport, Health and Social Affairs, Internal Affairs, Customs and the State Committee for National Security of the Republic of Tajikistan. Since January 2020, the border between Tajikistan and China – Kulma-Karasu, has been completely closed. From 11 March 2020, Tajikistan began closing its borders with Afghanistan. The last checkpoint on the border with Afghanistan (Nizhny-Pyanj) was closed on 16 March 2020. According to official data, the spread of Coronavirus has not been detected in Tajikistan, and in this regard the borders between Tajikistan-Uzbekistan and Tajikistan-Kyrgyzstan are currently operating normally.
