WP.29 decided, at its 188th session (ECE/TRANS/WP.29/1168, para. 19), that the IWG on ITS, should perform preparatory activities and to explore the potential role of WP.29 regarding to related to on Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V) communication.
This decision from WP.29 triggered the organization of this session.

Outcome of the 5th session

The Group met on 17 January 2023, upon request of WP.29, for a special session dedicated to Vehicular Communications.

(WP.29 requested that the IWG on ITS perform preparatory activities and to explore the potential role of WP.29 regarding to related to on Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V) communication)

It received presentations from China, ERTICO, ITU, OICA, SAE International as well as a note by the Secretary providing an overview regarding V2V and suggesting actions to the group.

The group provided comments and request the Secretary to inform WP.29 (see WP.29-189-18)
