With respect to Article 1.02, the competent authorities may waive the provisions of the article in case of certain assemblies of floating material and non-motorized vessels in certain side-by-side formations.

In accordance with article 9.02, paragraph 4, the following administrations waive the provisions of article 1.02 in case of certain assemblies of floating material and non-motorized vessels in certain side-by-side formations:

1. Czech Republic;
2. Germany: there is no need for a boatmaster on the pushed vessel in the pushed convoy, but there exists a subordination to the boatmaster of the pushing vessels. If a pushed barge is part of a side-by-side formation, the boatmaster of the leading vessel can carry out boatmaster duties for the pushed barge;
3. Lithuania;
4. Turkey;
5. Ukraine: in a pushed convoy propelled by two pushers side-by-side, the boatmaster of the pusheron the left shall be the boatmaster of the convoy.
