1. 5. Discharge into the waterway of water separated by approved oil separator vessels shall be exempted from the prohibition contained in paragraph 1 if the maximum content of residual oil after separation is consistently and without prior dilution in accordance with national requirements.

2. Exceptions to this prohibition are admissible only if consistent with the provisions on water protection and disposal of waste generated on board vessels in effect for the waterway concerned.
